1) The Lost World

Jurassic Park Part II is a motion picture about an island populated with real dinosaurs. Released in 1997, this science fiction adventure is the sequel to the box office hit, Jurassic park (1993), in which a scientist built a dinosaur theme park on a remote island. Although those dinosaurs were destroyed, there were some left on another island. Dr. Sarah Harding (played by Juliannne Moore) and Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) travel to the island to observe the dinosaurs and try to prevent Roland Tembo (Pete Postlethwaite) from rounding the beasts up and taking them to theme park in the United States. The weather turns bad, the dinosaurs become violent, and one of the angry beasts makes its way to Los Angles, California.

2) Brownies, a bite of sweet cake, a bit of love

Another Indonesian romantic drama features film by a young and taletnted director, Hanung Bramantyo, will son be released this year. Fans of Marcela Zalianty, Bucek Depp, and Arie U. Kencono will be able to see their idols acting in a movie titled Brownies. The film is produced by SinemaArt, which also produced ‘Mengejar Matahari’.

The theme is simple; it’s about love. Love with a bittersweet story becomes the highlight that enriches the movie plot. The reason is quite obvious: a love theme always attracts more people to come to the cinema.

Mel (Marcella zalianty), a copywriter in an advertising agency, has a life that’s focused on her job. Although mel is engaged to Joe (Philips Yusuf), Didi (Renia) her close friend, questions if Joe is really Mel’s kind of guy.

Later in the story, Mel finds out that Joe has been going out with another girl all this time. Then, Mel, meets Are (Bucek Depp), a young artist who writes, owns a bookstore, and makes brownies! Are even has a small brownies shop that Mel loves to visit. Are’s artistic attitude  and Joe’s betrayal have clearly affected Mel’s life.

Brownies is the first Indonesian movie that was shot using Panasonic High Definition cameras, which results in a film that looks as if it’s recorded on standard celluloid film, while reducing production costs.

3) The Jungle Book 2

The original the Jungle Book was one of Disney Studios biggest hits and the last Mouse House animation directly supervised by the late, great Walt Disney himself. That was back in 1967 and it has taken all that time to tell us what happens after that man cub, Mowli (voice of Haley Joel Osment), gave up his jungle home and the companionship of his best friend, Baloo (voice of John Coodman), to live with the rules of the human village in The Jungle Book 2.

Disney studios seems to be getting into the habit of taking the second tier sequels of its classics that used to go direct to video, like The Little Mermaid 2, Aladin 2, and The Lion King 2, and making run at the big screen before the little screen takes over. With such kid’s flicks as Return to Neverland and The Jungle Book2, it’s nice to see that the effort is being made to infuse these lower budged follow ups with the same intent and quality, if not the scope, of the originals.

The Jungle Book 2 is an example of a Disney animation that belongs in the pay-per-view and video store shelves but gives a good enough show to satisfy the Saturday matinee kid crowd. While it doesn’t have the number of songs or the original source material (after all, TJB is a Rudyard Kliping story), the screenplay by Karl Geurs does a better than average job of creating a lively sequel.

 Mowgli has been living in the safe, boring village since he was adopted by his little buddy Ranjan’s (voice of Connor Funk) family and developed a crush on the girl, Shanti (voice of Me Whitman), who got him to come out of the jungle in the first place. But, Mowgli can’t forget his old best friend, Baloo (John Goodman), his beloved papa bear, and the laid back bruin, too, yearns to see his little man-cub pal. Even thought the wise panther Bagheera (voice of Bob Joles) does his ebst to keep Baloo away from his friend, including the use of the dedicated pachyderms of Colonel Hathi’s (voice of Jim Cummings) Elephant Patrol, it is all for naught.

 Baloo may be simple but the certainlu knows his own mind and be is able to get around Bag’s defense, sneaks into the village to find his best friend, Mowgli, for a grand reunion. But, the noise over Baloo’s quest reaches the ears of the wicked tiger, Shere Khan )voice of Tony Jay). Who mowgli bested in the original. When Baloo enters the village so does Shere Khan and a big commotion ensues with the villagers battling the dreaded tiger while Shanti and Ranjan set in persuit of the bear and Mowgli, thinking that their friend is in danger. This begins and adventure that has everyone searching for Mowgli, friend and foe alike, with thrills, pills, songs, and dance that will be one of the children’s entertainment staples on home video.

My only complaint about The Jungle Book 2 is that it could have used another song or two. The ones that are here, though, are good fun and well staged to toe tapping pleasure. The hipster Jungle Rhythm, the reprised Bare Necessities and the super fun, big scale Busby Berkeley-esque swing number, ‘W-I-L-D’ are great fun to watch and listen to, both for kids and adults.

Vocal character are ybufirnkt wekk caste ti give continuity to the characters furst geard 35 years ago. Haley Joel Osment voice Mowgli with the right note throughout, even when doing a soulful solo rendition of Jungle Rhythm , John Goodman gives just the right, big-hearted, b ig-sized feel to the original party animal. Baloo, originally voiced by Phil Haris,. Birt stage thespiant, Tony Jay, gives the same sleek, sinister, and malicious note to Shere Khan, the tiger that Goerge Sanders gave in the original. Bob Joles also does a fine reprise of Bighseera, fist done by Sebastian Cabot. Mae veteran Hohn Rhys-Davies gives caring dignity to Mowgli’s adopted father. Cummings also gives a good imitation of Sterling Holloway’s slithering vocal performance as the sneaky snake Kaa.

Animation is simple with set backgrounds but the quality of the character animation, the fine vocal performances, lively song and dance numbers and nice story make The Jungle Book 2 a fun thing to see at the theater and worth to wait on home video (but you shouldn’t have too long to wait). The kids are going to like it, maybe even love it, I give it a B.

Asli Jungle Book adalah salah satu Disney Studios hits terbesar dan terakhir Tikus Rumah animasi diawasi langsung oleh almarhum, besar Walt Disney sendiri. Itu kembali pada tahun 1967 dan telah mengambil semua waktu untuk memberitahu kami apa yang terjadi setelah itu pria cub, Mowli (suara Haley Joel Osment), menyerah hutan rumahnya dan persahabatan sahabatnya, Baloo (suara John Coodman ), untuk hidup dengan aturan desa manusia dalam The Jungle Book 2.

4) Original Soundtrack of Brownies

                Bisa saja was chosen as the first single of the album and theme song of  Brownies because the lyrics reflect the story in the movie. Budjana of GIGI demonstrates his skills in playing an acoustic guitar in Cinta Terakhir. Three other brand new songs, Dilema, Jangan Bilang Pacarku, dan Semua Orang Berhak Mendapat Rasa Bahagia, give supporting nuances to the flow of the movie. GIGI  composed them by imagining how the scenes would look like based on the screenplay. When Hanung Bramantyo (the director) and Dewa Budjana of GIGI chatted. Budhjana expressed his interest in making a soundtrack album. Then, he recommended a few GIGI songs, which the producer accepted because of the chemistry they created with the movie. Since GIGI could provide a variety of colors to add all kinds of musical nuances to enrich the movie, the producer deemd it unnecessary to find other musicians to complete the original soundtrack of Brownies. Armand Maulaan (vocalist), I Gede Dewa Budjana (guitarist), Thomas Ramadhan (bass player), AND Gusti Erhandy (drum-stand-in player for Budhi Haryono) put a lot of effort into this album. As a result, they’ve created a perfect blend of a movie and songs that makes Brownies tastier. It’s always fun to have a piece of brownies in your mouth but having it on your stereo is more entertaining. No movie is perfect without a musical score and Ost. Of Brownies has proved is excellently.

5) Spiderman 2- the Review

I just watched Spiderman 2 and I enjoyed it thoroughly. It is better than the original because the story has more depth and lots of funny moments too. Frankly speaking, when I walked in to the cinema, I thought we were going to watch Finding Nemo 2. The cinema was filled with kids. Not surprising though, since the original Spiderman movie was a huge hit.

The story starts with Peter Parker (Tobey Maquire), having a tough time with his dual life. Two jobs by day, high esxpectations in school to boot, and crime fighter by night. No time for his personal life or to follow his dreams. Always exhausted. Always late. He reminds me of a born loser.

Peter faces problems which many of us do: problems on the job and no money for the rent. The woman he loves. Marry Jane (Kristen Dunst), is with someone else. Basically, anything that goes wrong, does. Even as Spiderman, things go wrong as his power vanishes.

The villain, Doc Ock is multi dimensional person, somewhat like Norman Osborne in the original Spiderman movie. Originally a good hearted scientist, the unfortunate accident allowed the artificial intelligence in his tentacles to take over and turn him into a formidable villain. Alfred Molina is excellent as Doc Ock, the good scientist and as the villain whose mind was taken over by the tentacles.

As the story progresses, Peter find himself that he has to be his own self. With this self confidence, he has to hurry to save Mary Jane because Doc Ock kidnaps the girl.
Unrequited love. The longing glances exchanged. Some of these could have become uncomfortably mushy, but with Tobey’s understated performance and the powerful on screen chemistry between him and Kirsten, these scene turned out very well.

Tobey Maguire, with his talent in drama, brings out this aspect of the movie beautifully. The process Peter has to go trough as he struggles with what he really wants to do with his life. This reminds me somewhat of the TV series Smallville, where young Clark Kent (Superman) struggles with his secret powers.  

Rosemary Harris (as Peter’s Aunt May) touches our hearts. He still misses Uncle Ben terribly. A brave old lady who faces life alone, with not enough money to pay the bills. Even then, she is spunky enough to whack Doc Ock. Incidentally, in the Spiderman comic books, Aunt May almost married Doc Ock.

Spiderman, with his mask on, looks emotionless. Kind of boring. In a number of key moments of the movie, you see Spidey without mask. The comic book Spidey would never take off his mask voluntarily, but in the movie, seeing the maskless Spidey’s expressions have a greater impact. You’ll see the actor’s full performance when you see his facial expressions.

Overall, Spiderman 2 is an excellent movie. The plot is excellent. The characters are well developed. The humor is there. Lots of inside jokes. There is loads of action too. Consequently, it is fun for the entire family. I intend to see this movie again.

Saya hanya menonton Spiderman 2 dan saya benar-benar menikmatinya. Hal ini lebih baik daripada yang asli karena ceritanya memiliki lebih mendalam dan banyak momen lucu juga. Terus terang, ketika saya berjalan di bioskop, saya pikir kami akan menonton Finding Nemo 2. Bioskop itu penuh dengan anak-anak. Tidak mengherankan meskipun, karena film Spiderman asli adalah sukses besar.

Cerita dimulai dengan Peter Parker (Tobey Maquire), mengalami kesulitan dengan kehidupan ganda nya. Dua pekerjaan demi hari, esxpectations tinggi di sekolah untuk boot, dan kejahatan tempur pada malam hari. Tidak ada waktu untuk kehidupan pribadinya atau untuk mengikuti mimpinya. Selalu habis. Selalu terlambat. Dia mengingatkan saya pecundang lahir.

Peter menghadapi masalah yang banyak dari kita lakukan: masalah pada pekerjaan dan tidak ada uang untuk membayar sewa. Wanita yang ia cintai. Marry Jane (Kristen Dunst), adalah dengan orang lain. Pada dasarnya, sesuatu yang tidak beres, tidak. Bahkan sebagai Spiderman, terjadi kesalahan seperti yang kekuasaannya hilang.

Penjahat, Doc Ock adalah orang multi-dimensi, agak seperti Norman Osborne dalam film Spiderman asli. Awalnya seorang ilmuwan baik hati, kecelakaan malang memungkinkan kecerdasan buatan dalam tentakelnya untuk mengambil alih dan mengubahnya menjadi penjahat tangguh. Alfred Molina sangat baik seperti Doc Ock, ilmuwan yang baik dan sebagai penjahat yang pikirannya diambil alih oleh tentakel.

Seperti cerita berlangsung, Petrus menemukan dirinya bahwa ia harus menjadi diri sendiri. Dengan percaya diri, dia harus bergegas untuk menyelamatkan Mary Jane karena Doc Ock menculik gadis itu.
Cinta tak berbalas. Tatapan kerinduan ditukar. Beberapa bisa menjadi nyaman lembek, tetapi dengan kinerja Tobey bersahaja dan kuat pada kimia layar antara dia dan Kirsten, adegan ini ternyata sangat baik.
